What to wear to this year's festivals...
If you are one of those lucky people who have managed to get yourself some tickets to this year’s hottest festivals, well done! But that is only half of the work; your festival attire is equally as important, and should by all means not be overlooked! If you are not sure what to wear, then make sure to take inspiration from some of the following outfits, ranging from ‘glamour grunge’, to ‘hippie chic’.
Outfit 1 - Reading Festival – Glamour Grunge
1. Vintage High waisted shorts, ASOS, £60
2. Knitted Grunge Cropped Jumper, Republic, £25
3. Topshop metallic nail polish, £5
4. Brown speckle feather head dress, £16.99
5. Black Calf Boots, Debenhams, £40
If you are fussed about your look, but don’t want to seem like you have put too much time and effort into your outfit, then ‘glamour grunge’ just might be the thing for you! Take a pair of black cut-off high waisted denim shorts and combine it with a chunky rib knit jumper, preferably in silver or gold tones, for some added glamour. Black metallic nail polish completes the look, and if you are feeling a bit mental, why not wear it with this River Island feather head dress?
Outfit 2 – Glastonbury – Festival Fringes
1. Denim cropped jacket, Topshop, £42
2. Black Sandals, ASOS, £45
3. Feather earrings, River Island, £5.99
4. Gold Tassle dress, Miss Selfridge, £95
5. Straw Trilby, ASOS, £15
Fringes are one of the major trends this summer, so with this gold tassle dress from Miss Selfridge you just cannot go wrong during the festival season. A straw trilby hat is vital for when the sun decides to come out, but as the weather at Glastonbury is likely to change, it is advisable to bring a cropped denim jacket for some extra warmth when it cools down. Feather earrings are the perfect festival accessory; these River Island ones add an instant ‘tribal feel’ to any look.
Outfit Three - Bestival – ‘Hippy Chic’
1. Brown pleated wide leg trousers, Topshop, £48
2. Crochet waist coat, Topshop, £40
3. Black lace bandeau top, ASOS, £12
4. Brown embellished sandals, River Island, £34.99
5. Fedora Hat, ASOS, £25
6. Brown multi feather necklace, River Island, £14.99
These pleated wide leg trousers can be said to be extremely comfortable and are therefore a necessity for any festival experience; you just need to make sure to combine it the right way. Mixing baggy trousers with an oversized top won’t do anyone any favours, regardless of your body shape. A lace bandeau top and a crochet waist coat, however, will create a nice balance. Finally, the multi feather necklace and embellished sandals give the whole outfit a ‘hippy chic’ feel.
