Three Acts Not To Miss At TITP

StudentPunch - A Mix of Everything Student! - Three Acts Not To Miss At TITP

titpfulllogoT in the Park fast approaches! If you’re like me, and cannot wait to get into muddy mess of the campsite for a weekend of fantastic music and great banter, here’s three great acts that will have everyone in the festival mood!

First of all, Glasgow band Kassidy will be treading the boards over at the NME stage on Friday afternoon. This foursome have gone from strength to strength over the past year, and look set to dominate the charts in the months to come. I previously wrote about these four fellows in an article about acts to look out for in 2011. Just as predicted, Kassidy have become a phenomenon. The year has been incredibly good to them: 2011 saw the release of their acclaimed album ‘Hope Street’, a sell out performance at Glasgow’s 02 ABC, as well as the band garnering over eleven thousand fans on Facebook, and counting. The quartet fuse together folk routes with indie rock, creating vibes worthy of Woodstock, yet wholly modern. They’re something of a 21st Century Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young. Just four guys, with four acoustics, jamming out their hearts and souls. If you’re looking to chill before the big headliners of the night, head to the NME stage on Friday for a memorable performance from Glasgow’s up and coming superstars.

My next must see is Brit Pop legends Primal Scream, who will be headlining the King Tut’s Tent on Saturday night. The band will be performing the classic album ‘Screamadelica’ live, their Mercury Prize winning masterpiece, with choral backing. The album features the hits ‘Come Together’ and ‘Movin’ On Up’, amongst others. The Scottish based band are set to finish the day off in style, with their upbeat music set to dominate Balado. Having already performed at this year’s Glastonbury festival, to great acclaim, complete with lead singer strutting his stuff, clad in a silver jumpsuit, (never mind Vince Noir, here’s Bobby Gillespie), Saturday’s gig is bound to be top notch. Head to the King Tut’s tent on Saturday night, (you know you want to!)

Also on Saturday is guitar extraordinaire, and over all Rock God, Mr Saul Hudson, AKA Slash. Performing on the Main Stage along with Alterbridge front man Myles Kennedy, this set will bring together a smattering of his solo project, his Velvet Revolver work, and his GNR anthems. Hopefully the sun will be out in full force for hits such as ‘Paradise City’ and ‘Slither’, it would be a perfect  start to the legend’s first Balado outing. Myles Kennedy’s strong vocals compliment Slash’s unforgettable riffs perfectly; the two look and sound like a promising recording duo in the future. Trey Parker and Matt Stone may believe Slash is merely a ‘state of mind’, of Santa Claus infamy, however coming to witness this rock legend on Saturday will prove that Slash DOES exist. ‘Vunter Slaush, Vunter Slaush...’

So, this concludes three of my top T in the Park highlights! Of course, there are many other amazing bands and artists playing over the course of the weekend, City and Colour, Foo Fighters, Blondie, Chase and Status (whose Glastonbury set looked sublime), but these are the three I am particularly excited about. So, if you’re heading off to Kinross this weekend, I hope you all have a great time! Oh and a tip, try out Healthy T: great food made with all natural produce for fantastic prices, much better (and cheaper) deals that you will get at any van!
