StudentPunch's own Irish party monster gives her thoughts on Oxegen and offers you advice on surviving the weekend.

From around December time, I begin to count down the days until the line up of Ireland’s Biggest Festival is revealed. Previously known as ‘Witness’ from 2000-2004, Oxegen has grown over the years not only in its audience, the size of the festival and the line-up, but also in its popularity – voted as Best Major European Music Festival two years running. I have been the past two years and have no qualms about making a cameo this July also.

Previously known as Nacional, the Glasgow based indie-rock quartet are back, rechristened as For Abel (confusions with The National laid to rest) with a debut album set to live up to the buzz surrounding it.

Psychedelic Irish band, ‘Fight Like Apes’ descended upon Glasgow’s King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut in order to abuse their instruments, whip their hair and play a down right trippy gig. StudentPunch met up with lead singer Mary Jane and the boys to discuss what concoction of influences and experiences that combine to create their unique brand of music, with the conclusion being everything from Nelson Mandela to men who proudly parade their manginas......

When you consider the drunken NEDs at T in The Park or the hippies running around a field in Glastonbury, you don’t exactly think chic, stylish and cultured do you?

Now don’t get me wrong, I love some drunken festival chaos but I must admit to sometimes desiring something a bit more chic and with a little bit more “culture” in my festival menu.

Stylish and dynamic pop quartet Ladytron return to Scotland on Thursday 9th June to play the atmospheric surroundings of The Arches in Glasgow.
