Misfits -Soundtrack
With the second series of cult TV show Misfits back on our screens we thought we’d give the official soundtrack a little listen. The album is packed with a plethora of indie classics from Blur, The Cure, Foals and the occassionally disturbing Massive Attack. Not to mention the athemic theme tune by The Rapture.
The series follows five early-20s delinquents on community service who acquire special powers during an electrical thunder storm. Kelly (Lauren Socha) gains the ability to read minds, Curtis (Nathan Stewart-Jarrett) can rewind time, Alisha (Antonia Thomas) sends people into a sexual frenzy with her touch, Simon (Iwan Rheon) can become invisible and smart alec Nathan (Robert Sheehan) is immortal.
The BAFTA award winning show has been a smash hit for Channel Four and E4 and first time round Series 2 regularly got 1.5 million viewers; it was one of the top-rated multi-channel shows each week. The melodic highlights from both series are on this album including specially commissioned score music from Vince Pope.
Classic tracks are brought to a new generation including the gorgeous ‘Lullaby’ from The Cure and ‘The Killing Moon’ by Echo & The Bunnymen. There are also more recent tracks from indie favourites including The Fratellis, The Black Keys and Foals.
If you like the dark mood of the TV series then the soundtrack might just be the perfect partner to your super-powered life.
The Misfits original soundtrack was released on May 9 and is available from all good record stores.
