Meadows Marathon

rhino-marathon-costumeThe Meadows Marathon is a half marathon and 5k fun run that takes place in Edinburgh every year.  March 6th will mark the fifth anniversary of this great event.  The Marathon is one of Edinburgh’s largest fundraisers, and cemented this reputation last year, when almost 1000 runners raised over £50 000 for various local, national and international charities.  This is a popular event; some run for charity, others for competition and some for the challenge it provides.  On November 25th 2010, registration opens for the 5th anniversary marathon, and the organisers welcome everyone; old and young, professional and, um, not-so-professional!

Marathon day is fun for everyone: a day full of entertainment, and enthusiasm.  A creative costume will earn runners extra sponsorship money. Yes, there are other running events in Edinburgh, but its only Meadows Marathon where you are likely to see suspiciously manly looking nuns, Fred Flinstone, Smurfs and Aviators chasing each other around the park!  The Marathon route is also something to look forward to: many an Edinburgh resident will speak with pride about their gorgeous park, and visitors will agree.  The whole city is known for its history and lively nights, and marathon participants are encouraged to spend some time in this beautiful city.  For those who can’t spend longer in the city – do not fear!  We can’t wait to bring some city entertainment to the day, with performers all around the Marathon’s route.  There is a place for everyone at the Meadows Marathon; from runners to supporters and people looking for a good day out.  Join in the Meadows this March and have a brilliant day, knowing many charities are able to do more because of you.
