It wasn’t until my third listen of ‘The Lion’s Roar’ that I bothered to do any research into First Aid Kit’s background. What I found out was surprising to say the least. With a record that oozes with 1950s inspired American folk which verges on country and western at times, you’d be more than a little surprised to find out the two sisters that make up First Aid Kit are in fact Swedish. Nonetheless, listening to ‘The Lion’s Roar’ it’s clear Johanna and Klara Söderberg have raided their parents’ vinyl collection and done their homework. Maybe there’s not much else to do in the fjords…....

StudentPunch will be offers you lovely students a themed song every day that will bring enjoyment to your eardrums. It might be an oldie, it might be someone you have never heard of or it might just be something that you have listened to a thousand times before. But if you listen to only one song today make sure it's this one!
After selling 2 million copies of debut album We Started Nothing and 4 million singles, things were looking pretty good for the Ting Tings. But after four years away recording across most of Europe and scraping a whole album in the process, the release of the band’s follow up, Sounds from Nowheresville, finds the band in a much different place and with a revamped sound. So, has the wait been worth it?
