Fresher's Special: What to wear....

Summer has been and gone, and the universities are slowly filling up with eager freshers, ready to take on Fresher’s week! It is understandable that going to university is an extremely scary experience; you’re in a new environment, a long way from home, and most importantly of all: you’ll have to make new friends. But don’t despair! But don’t worry we have sussed out Fresher’s week fashion for you. Below there are a few situations which you’ll probably find yourself in at some point or another, with some fashion related ideas to dress the part (which is also a great excuse to ‘invest’ in a new university proof wardrobe!).

leonie1...On the first day of lectures

What you want to do is stand out, but not overdress. Preferably, you should go for a ‘casual-chic’ look. Therefore, wear something simple like these black skinny jeans, which are so incredibly easy to combine with. Then, wear it with a pussybow blouse to feminize your outfit. By wearing these statement heels with fake fur detail your confidence will quite literally get a lift. Make sure to practice beforehand though; falling over in front of 300 other students isn’t preferable (but will definitely give a lasting impression, positive or not!).

leonie2...On a pubcrawl

University isn’t just all hard work, there has to be some play involved as well! So after a long day of lectures, the best thing to do is go out and have some fun. When you’re out and about, you definitely want to stand out from the crowd, but not in a look-at-what-she’s-wearing (or not wearing in some cases) kind of way. Therefore, try to avoid sparkly and neon-coloured dresses, and go for this black Lipsy dress. It is simple and chic, but the lace adds a little bit of an ‘edge’ and sexiness to it. Also, make sure that you don’t over-accessorize. A few subtle golden touches are all you need!

leonie3...On a hangover terrorised morning

We all know those mornings when we don’t want to do anything but sleep (or in my case: cry). So when you’ve had too much to drink the night before, it is vital that your hangover attire is nice and comfy. Who cares if some items may look like something you’ve stolen out of your boyfriends closet; if it’s oversized and warm, then there isn’t a better way to ease a nasty hangover. Therefore, hangover proof items are vital for your student wardrobe. A few of my own personal favourites are these comfy UGG inspired slippers (but without the expensive price tag), boyfriend pyjama trousers and a warm-but-sexy sweatshirt with lace detail.
