Joe Johnson’s Captain America has a lot working in its favour: an iconic hero, a charismatic leading man, a World War II setting, a plot that favours the underdog and a power-hungry villain - not to mention a ready-made fan base of Marvel devotees. On paper, it is box-office gold. And while Captain America will undoubtedly be a huge hit both sides of the Atlantic, I couldn’t help but feel that these aspects do not come together as well as they should.

What did people do before the newspaper? Archaic they may be in their delivery of yesterday’s headlines, but in one form or another the newspaper has been a part on British society since the late 1700s. Before the newspaper how would you get news? Was it all hearsay and happenstance, or could one trust their town crier to be the font of all knowledge? I mean, it’s hard enough to imagine a time when the news went to bed just after Trevor McDonald stopped talking.

The muggle world has been taken by storm this week as the spectacular finale of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 graces cinemas worldwide.  Already breaking box office records after its first weekend release, the film is a must-see.  Having split the seventh book into two films, the story is able to incorporate fast action with narrative accuracy in possibly its best representation yet.

Foster the People are a relatively new band, having formed in 2009. They reached the attention of music bloggers worldwide after their performances at Coachella and SXSW.
